Into the Fire

I know I skipped last week, and that was because I really don't care much for this episode, coupled with the severe bout of crankiness.
Ah, was I the only one let down by this episode? Maybe it was all the running around and shooting. I know it was a rescue op, but running around and shooting never enthralled me much.
It took the Tok'ra that long to tell the SGC that SG-1 was okay? I mean, really.
The big bad Hathor (really, she had SUCH potential as a villain, and anyone who can rip a T-shirt without effort is pretty strong) and her symbiote friend very predictably chose Jack as host. Not that it wasn't angsty as hell, but anyone familiar with the rule that the star of the show gets the good stuff (and, well, the bad stuff that's sooooo good) would have figured as soon as the little CGI snake was waved around that it would find Jack tastier than the others. ;)
Not only did she follow those TV rules, but then she managed to get herself offed pretty easily. Incidentally, notice how Jack managed to kill the evil female woman and save the damsel in one fell swoop? After being frozen again. My inner feminist cringes. And THEN he goes out and manages to play Big Damn Hero again.
I did like Teal'c again in this ep - he was one of the few highlights, and Hammond as well (except I can't endorse the yee haw). Ooh, and it's always great to see Bra'tac. I think it was because they, for some reason, gave Daniel nothing to do but sit around looking dazed (and adorable, btw) and Carter also kind of just tagged along...until she started edging toward Super!Sam to me. What, Daniel traipsing around getting shot was okay with his injury, but helping her was too much?
Meh.

Date: 2007-02-26 02:52 am (UTC)Sam also had a Tok'ra in her head, so there was no telling how much info she had that the Goa'uld could use. Why not choose her?
Why only one snake? Why not have three symbiotes needing hosts to take all three of them?
Hathor was a fun bad guy. I really didn't want to see her going bye-bye so quickly.

Date: 2007-02-27 02:40 am (UTC)I think it would have been a killer idea for Sam to be chosen. If it had worked out for Hathor, she and Sam could've galavanted around the universe like Thelma and Louise.

Date: 2007-02-26 09:17 am (UTC)I know that was all weird. This was the first episode where I was slightly annoyed with Sam and felt that they were treating Daniel differently. I was pretty innocent then *g*, because I didn't know what was to come, but it bugged me because it felt like this episode had a big sign hung on it saying, "Daniel's the unimportant character; he's the chump." *g*
I also noticed not only SuperSam, but how it was only Sam who got to go rescue Jack. When I first watched it, I didn't like it, but it never occurred to me that it was supposed to be a bit shippy until much later. *g*
While I never liked this episode much, it also didn't really bother me, because it was only one episode. *g* I thought.

Date: 2007-02-27 03:00 am (UTC)Every time he had a shot, in my head I said, "[Cut to close up of Jackson. He looks stoned.]" because that really does look like that's all the direction he was given.
