Also, I don't care about trends: jeans/trousers with tapered legs are not flattering on pretty much every body shape I've seen wear them. If this really is a trend that's coming (I've seen more and more tragically tapered jeans walking around town), then I'm very happy to be untrendy.

Jeans/trousers with tapered legs? Do you mean not flared? Because I think just the opposite. I think flared pants make everyone look bizarre--sort of "elephant legged" or something. I hated that trend, though when I was 13 I wouldn't wear anything else. hehe

I feel the same about low-cut pants, though. Even thin people look just awful in them. They make everyone look bottom-heavy and lumpy, no matter how skinny and those who are not skinny look even more ridiculous.

What I don't like are the pants that are too thin at the ankles. I always buy the same exact stretchy jeans at Walmart that I've worn for the last 10 years. *g* I liked them best as straight legs, but then I went to buy some a couple of years ago and all they had were flared legs, so I bought those. Now that I lost weight, I had to get a smaller size and all they have are the ones that are almost snug at the ankle. I hate these, but they don't have any others at all. (Shopping for clothes sucks enough. I'm not going to look around for something better. *g* And yeah, I hate Walmart, but in AK, it was my only choice, and I'm too lazy to shop around anywhere else here, though I only go there for the pants. *g*)

If it were up to me, though, I'd wear nothing but sweatpants all the time. Nice, comfy stretchy sweatpants. :-) Well, it is up to me, but I mean they're not really socially acceptable in most places and I really look horrible in them. *g* I don't really care, though. That's all I wear at home, for the most part. Sweatpants and a t-shirt with no bra. It's not a pretty sight at all. Heh.

I'm a fan of the straight cut, if I'm using the right term - neither tapered nor flared. Guess made jeans in the 80's that were so tapered they had calf-zippers so you could get into them. Those were all the frickin' rage at my junior high. Gah.

Yeah, that's what I like: straight legs, not tapered or flared. But I don't wear regular jeans or pants at all. I only buy stretchy pants with an elastic waist. *g* Before they came out with these stretchy jeans, I wore stretchy knit pants. Those were much less attractive than the jeans. *g* I always go for comfort, though.

To be honest, I never even noticed (until I got home and wore them for a while) that the pants I bought a couple of weeks ago were tapered and not flared or straight leg. *g* I just tried them on and they fit, so I bought them. hehe That's about how I shop. I buy different colors, too, if they have them. Recently [livejournal.com profile] switch842 mentioned that black jeans or any colored jeans were unfashionable, and I had no clue. I do the same thing with shirts, too. I try one on, and if it fits, I just buy as many as I can afford in different colors. *g*

Wow. No, I don't like those, but they are similar to how my new pants are. *g* I don't like them, but as mentioned, that's all they had this time. I am not a fashion person so I don't really care except for comfort. The last ones I had were flared and I hated those just as much. OTOH, back in the '80s, "leggings" and stirrup pants were popular, and everyone wore those, I hated them. *g*

One thing I also don't like is the trend for really, really long shirts again. I like reasonable length, but not something as long as a mini-dress--something that comes over my hips and onto my thighs. That is really not a flattering look for me. *g*

Straight leg jeans are always made somehwere.

hehe Yeah, but I don't wear regular jeans--never. *g* I only wear these stretchy ones with the elastic waist, and that's it. I suppose they are "old lady" jeans, but I like them and they are slightly better than wearing sweatpants around everywhere. *g*

Word on the big shirts. I might as well put on a frigging muumuu.

LOL But the ones I tried on...they're more like those body shirts from the 70s. They are clingy and tight, so they show every bump on your hips or whatever.

I've seen a few younger girls who could pull that off, but they seem to wear two t-shirts: one longer one and one shorter one over it. It's an odd look. But what about us old ladies? *g* (And I mean me, not you. *g*) Except older shirts on clearance, I couldn't find any that weren't this long & clingy type. [livejournal.com profile] lyraeinne also didn't like them, even though she's thin and has a lovely figure, and she also hasn't been able to find any shirts that she likes for going-back-to-school clothes.
