Also, I don't care about trends: jeans/trousers with tapered legs are not flattering on pretty much every body shape I've seen wear them. If this really is a trend that's coming (I've seen more and more tragically tapered jeans walking around town), then I'm very happy to be untrendy.

Date: 2006-08-21 04:07 am (UTC)I feel the same about low-cut pants, though. Even thin people look just awful in them. They make everyone look bottom-heavy and lumpy, no matter how skinny and those who are not skinny look even more ridiculous.
What I don't like are the pants that are too thin at the ankles. I always buy the same exact stretchy jeans at Walmart that I've worn for the last 10 years. *g* I liked them best as straight legs, but then I went to buy some a couple of years ago and all they had were flared legs, so I bought those. Now that I lost weight, I had to get a smaller size and all they have are the ones that are almost snug at the ankle. I hate these, but they don't have any others at all. (Shopping for clothes sucks enough. I'm not going to look around for something better. *g* And yeah, I hate Walmart, but in AK, it was my only choice, and I'm too lazy to shop around anywhere else here, though I only go there for the pants. *g*)
If it were up to me, though, I'd wear nothing but sweatpants all the time. Nice, comfy stretchy sweatpants. :-) Well, it is up to me, but I mean they're not really socially acceptable in most places and I really look horrible in them. *g* I don't really care, though. That's all I wear at home, for the most part. Sweatpants and a t-shirt with no bra. It's not a pretty sight at all. Heh.

Date: 2006-08-21 05:31 am (UTC)This is not a good look for anyone with hips, and it makes those who don't have hips look like they've got hips. But not in a good way.

Date: 2006-08-21 07:16 am (UTC)To be honest, I never even noticed (until I got home and wore them for a while) that the pants I bought a couple of weeks ago were tapered and not flared or straight leg. *g* I just tried them on and they fit, so I bought them. hehe That's about how I shop. I buy different colors, too, if they have them. Recently

Date: 2006-08-21 04:31 pm (UTC)I've just never seen anyone wear them so well I've thought, "I've got to go get me a pair of jeans like that!"

Date: 2006-08-21 07:11 am (UTC)One thing I also don't like is the trend for really, really long shirts again. I like reasonable length, but not something as long as a mini-dress--something that comes over my hips and onto my thighs. That is really not a flattering look for me. *g*

Date: 2006-08-21 05:52 pm (UTC)hehe Yeah, but I don't wear regular jeans--never. *g* I only wear these stretchy ones with the elastic waist, and that's it. I suppose they are "old lady" jeans, but I like them and they are slightly better than wearing sweatpants around everywhere. *g*

LOL But the ones I tried on...they're more like those body shirts from the 70s. They are clingy and tight, so they show every bump on your hips or whatever.
I've seen a few younger girls who could pull that off, but they seem to wear two t-shirts: one longer one and one shorter one over it. It's an odd look. But what about us old ladies? *g* (And I mean me, not you. *g*) Except older shirts on clearance, I couldn't find any that weren't this long & clingy type.
