I killed my apartment. I fear this is a bigger problem than I first suspected. I can't have the oven, computer, lights and one other thing on at the same time, apparently. Also of note, when I went to the main house circuit breaker - it was not flipped, just like last time. I had to wait five minutes, flip it off and then back on before anything happened. And the circuit was warm to the touch, unlike the rest of them. I've never considered myself a major power-sucker before, but now I wonder.

*off to jot a note to the Upstairs People*

Ultimately, this is their problem. It's just my annoyance. I was in the middle of several things, damnit, and once again I have to figure out my cable/TV. I won't be watching anything for a while, so that's not a huge deal. Just a pain.

It is their problem, the power supply they have you on is pitifully pathetic, sounds to me like when they put in the power they routed it all through a 15 amp lighting circuit! Twits!

Maybe it's been empty for a while, and something's gone wonky...?

:-D I like the tag you've created. Sounds like they haven't checked the wiring in years, or something in the fuse box is going.

I lived in an efficiency for a year and a half once (the closet was so big it almost counted as a small room imo) where I had to turn the computer off so I could run my microwave. granted the microwave was a heavy monster made circa 1982 or so, but still.

My house has a similar problem Along the way a previous house owner expanded a kitchen outlet and broke it through to the living room so there could use it in both rooms. It gets over loaded easily. We found out when we tried to run Microwave and the vacuum cleaner and the fridge at the same time. So House rule - only the microwave gets plugged in that outlet and that has solved the problem.

It's frustraing - I hope you get your situation resolved soon

Can you spread out what's plugged into which outlet a bit? (But don't put any major appliances on extension cords).

The wiring in my house was probably put in in the 50s, and I have a similar problem. In fact, everything major is plugged into a surge surpressor, because my power has killed three TVs, two VCRs and a microwave. If your landlord will do it, have them bring in someone to test your power supply and maybe put in a few more outlets or redistribute your fuses.
