My house has a similar problem Along the way a previous house owner expanded a kitchen outlet and broke it through to the living room so there could use it in both rooms. It gets over loaded easily. We found out when we tried to run Microwave and the vacuum cleaner and the fridge at the same time. So House rule - only the microwave gets plugged in that outlet and that has solved the problem.
