It's done!

superbadgirlIt took three very long days, but the guys finished the house tonight. Mostly. The door ate a whole quart of paint and still needs more - I think that I should have told them to hold off on that, stripped it and sanded it, then painted. Ah, hindsight.
At first blush, I hated it. This was when only a partial side was completed and I could still see the drab old paint. Now it's done, and I love it. It was so the right call.
The windows are also something I would like painted, but apparently that works best if you have a particular kind of paint. Which I did not. They did one window in the back, said it took four coats of regular paint. It looks awesome, so I definitely need to figure out how to finish the other nine windows.
And they'll be back to do the flooring for my neighbor. ;)
I feel really bad that it took them three times as long as they had anticipated AND that they came on one of the busiest weekends of the year. There were no rooms to let and I found out tonight they've been sleeping in their car. It might have been a bad/awkward call, but I would have offered them my spare rooms!
Oh, and I also found out that I have bats in my attic. It's completely sealed from the rest of the house, so I'm not sure what if anything is to be done about that. Bats are vital creatures, creepers though they may be.

Date: 2019-08-14 02:58 am (UTC)I'm not sure. I don't want to kill them, but thinking maybe try to vacate them and then seal off the gap where they got in. I'm not one to kill any creature. Everyone at work is all "eek, spider! kill it!" which is not something I can recall ever doing. The spider isn't there to knowingly attack you, y'know? Relocate it and move on. Ditto with the snake that camped out in a bush next to the office building. I have a hard time imagining my first reaction as one of pretty much unprovoked violence.
Whoa, unexpected soapbox. ;)
I'll keep pondering the bat situation.
