I forgot to post thoughts last week, though I had them.

Okay, so the title made me think of giant aliens that speak Mayan or whatever, but that's because I'm weird and have a soft spot for SG-1's Crystal Skull. ;)

ACK, ShapeshifterAlt!Broyles was gonna ... did he manage to ... but I like Lincoln, so he'd better not have eventually got there off screen or something. Of course, I realize I probably just fated him to death. Honestly, though, I don't know how any of them can talk to anyone and be 100% certain they're talking to whom they think they are. Did they implement testing and I missed it somewhere? Because they should get on that.

Jones is a nasty, nasty piece of work but I totally did LOL at the "take me to your leader". Cute, Fringe writers, cute.

(I watched this through my cable's on demand, and during a commercial break they did little Q/A. SO lovely to hear John Noble with his actual accent. I love hearing people's true voices. It's a reminder of how good they really are. It's probably from some time ago, but I also loved that Joshua Jackson said he'd like to see an Astrid episode. Annnnyway.)

SS!Alt!Broyles is really creepy. Smoking hot, but creeeepy.

I said it last week, and I'll say it again: Elizabeth Bishop is amazing. I adored her reasoning with Walter, and of course, Walter being so close to how season one Walter was that whole scene just about broke my heart.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: Astrid in any universe is awesome. Not nearly enough of her this year. I do wonder what she's going to find from that blood sample Oliva gave her.

I enjoy this version of Faux!Livia. Actually, I liked the original Faux too, but, you know, issues.

Hooray, the sides are actually working together. This seems a good reason for The Observer to have not erased Peter completely.

Did I detect some almost "our" Peter/Olivia interaction there, just before we got some almost "our" Peter/Walter interaction. The Peter/Walter bits have always, always been one of my favorite things about this show. They balance each other a bit, I think. That last scene of theirs made me so, so happy.

And then Fringe Fringed.

NINA, YOU NASTY MONSTER. (OR IS SHE A SHAPESHIFTER?!)

First, I have to say I adore this week's title. Forced perspective is something super fun to look at (never been able to manage it myself, as a point-and-shooter) in photography, so I figured we were in for a trip. Then I remembered it's Fringe. Trips are the norm. ;)

I knew we'd soon get to examine the Observer's ominous warning to Olivia from a couple of episodes ago. I enjoyed the way this particular thing has impacted her - we got to see her being awesome as always, but also cracks in the armor. Anna Torv does a fantastic job, she really does, making Olivia Dunham someone you undoubtedly know you want on your side because she is solid, but at the same time soft and uncertain and scared.

(Also, while I didn't think them flattering for her, I loved her glasses and covet them.)

It's fantastic when writers can weave character exploration/paralleling in with the overall story arc for the episode and not make it like they're dropping anvils. Fringe usually fares pretty well here. Of course Olivia sees a link between this girl and the prediction/warning she received herself. Of course that is weighing on her quite obviously - the little "what did he look like, was he bald?" question to Lincoln was just one of those little cracks we get to see, that no one around her can quite understand the depth of, or possibly not even realize they're there. I know Broyles sees the headaches, but that's a physical symptom. Does he see beyond that? I dunno.

The case of the week wasn't terribly inspiring, but I liked Emily. I liked that she was a girl who knew there was nothing to be done, but she had to try anyway. I liked that she was strong enough to make her own calls and that Fringe let her (some of this, I suspect, we are supposed to reason because she knew her own fate, so defying her father wasn't a thing with consequences any greater than, well, death). I hated that she died, but at least it was not because someone killed her, and that she died knowing that at least once she had been able to stop a horrible thing from happening.

Nina. I love to hate her. She's diabolical and poor Olivia. The only mother she's ever known is still conducting experiments on her and, if the Observer observing at the end there is anything to go by, might be why Olivia has been fated to die. Maybe?

Next week, back to SPN in this space. I'm ... neutral to disappointed about that. ;)
