I need a new cat condo. When I bought the first one, I really didn't take into account how massive Roy would get. I'm afraid when the kitties play on it, they're going to tip it over one day. It's not stable. It's an expensive heap of junk I hope will go better on craigslist than an old TV.

I've been thinking of just slotting a baker's rack sort of thing like the photo on the left under the bedroom window. I already have a spare one of those. I'd like to get some sort of padding for it, of course. You know, like the pads you get for wood chairs, maybe 1/2 of foam or something with a slipcover. The problem is finding the proper dimensions. I couldn't find a cushion that's 11"x35", which is what I'd need. So, buy the foam, cut it and then figure a way to upholster it.

I suppose I could get a particle board base, glue the foam and then staple the upholstry to it? Can anyone think of a better plan? I'd like to be able to tie off the cushions to the perpendiculars, but I lack those skills for sure.I'd be fine with snugging the cushions in and picking them up as needed.

Also, I put on one of my favorite dresses this morning and found this:

(Hat = couldn't be arsed to brush my hair today. Heh.)

I've marked over the spots with black Sharpie, but if anyone knows a more long-term solution I'd love to hear it. I feel just like I did in college when at a work study job I splashed chemicals on my favorite Gap hooded T and burned holes in it.

And totally unrelated to home economics, I think John's ill. Her appetite hasn't been great. She's eating about half of what she used to. :(
