I can't make this stuff up

Seattle public schools are closed because of the threat of snow later today. This "storm" is expected to be worse than the "storm" we had this weekend, which left half an inch of white on the ground.
And because Seattle public schools are closed, so are we. It's quite hysterical.
Now, it probably will snow later and traffic will be a nightmare. But really? Closing schools before anything happens? LOLOL.
ETA: Sun was just spotted in the sky. I don't know what to do. OMGpanic! This storm is getting so bad!

Date: 2008-12-17 06:24 pm (UTC)My state never closes *sigh* But we don't have it as bad as other areas. Schools will consider closing if we get 8 inches. I know the farther north you go, it's more like maybe school will close after 3 ft...

Date: 2008-12-17 06:40 pm (UTC)My boss told me to hurry and do payroll early, in case I'm snowed in on Thurs/Fri. Me: I'll be here on Thurs/Fri.
Meanwhile, I've got my window wide open and am still warm.

Date: 2008-12-30 04:02 pm (UTC)What I refer to as 'school mentality'. I work in an old school building, the current school is next door to us (teenage kiddies making such a noise at lunchtimes when we're trying to work is not fun), and with so many of the other staff based there being ex-teachers plus the caretaking staff etc at the merest hint of bad weather they're all for going home and shutting the building. As ex-central offices staff we're get to work come hell or high water (the floods of July 2007 immediately come to mind) and keep our service running. The fact that during school holidays the building closes an hour and a half early every day does not impress us either - definitely school mentality!
