What I refer to as 'school mentality'. I work in an old school building, the current school is next door to us (teenage kiddies making such a noise at lunchtimes when we're trying to work is not fun), and with so many of the other staff based there being ex-teachers plus the caretaking staff etc at the merest hint of bad weather they're all for going home and shutting the building. As ex-central offices staff we're get to work come hell or high water (the floods of July 2007 immediately come to mind) and keep our service running. The fact that during school holidays the building closes an hour and a half early every day does not impress us either - definitely school mentality!
