I find this both amusing and disturbing.
Seriously, I'll bet my father is losing sleep over this. Aside from his and my mom's frenzied need to save all unborn babies, gun control is number two on dear old dad's issues on which to vote. It doesn't matter that, in their class and demographic, the GOP has never, ever done much at all for them in practical terms as long as abortion be made illegal again and people are allowed to have their semi-automatic weapons.

Date: 2008-11-08 08:13 pm (UTC)I love my dad, but I don't understand how he thinks at all. He uses his gun for sport, fair enough. He eats what he shoots. But how that means there shouldn't be stricter gun controls, especially for weapons you know are not for hunting game is beyond me. You don't take your Glock out into the sloughs and shoot at mallards with it.

I remember my father getting very upset at me because I wore a Pearl Jam T-shirt around the house one day - on the back it said something like "ten out of ten children prefer crayons to guns." That offended him. His offense confused the bejeebers out of me. It still does.
