SG-1: Urgo

Isn't this an episode you either love or hate? I actually quite enjoy it myself, but I'll be darned if I have much to say about it.
The concept is actually way creepier than the (subjectively) humorous tenor of the episode gives creedence to. The idea of something implanted in SG1's brains is disconcerting, even if that something is as annoying as Urgo. Terrific casting on that - Dom DeLuise might just be insane.
It's all a lot of fluff and nonsense, starting from the very beginning colloquism contest. Some funny scenes:
The coffee-drinking thing is great, if only because of the Jack/Daniel synchronized looks. I can't help it, I love when they do that. Hee.
The team shoveling dessert into their mouths is one I'll never tire of. Bad table manners, much? "This is the best pie I've ever had." Hopefully it tasted better than it looked in Daniel's open maw. ;)
"By the way, who is Mary Steenburgen?"
"Woof?" (Damn, Daniel's cute.)
"Row, row, row your boat..."
The looks Jack and Daniel exchange when in Togar's lab - priceless. I love those guys.
The whole team looked delicious enpugh to eat with a spoon, and Teryl and Don did a great job acting befuddled. LOL for them letting Don accidentally calling Teryl by her real name in there. It had to be more chaotic than usual filming this.
Yeah. So I don't have much to say today. I blame the ringing in my ears. Anyone have favorite moments or scenes or tag fics?

Date: 2008-05-19 12:06 pm (UTC)The main thing for me in Urgo was that although you could see the actors were having a ball they are always in character having a ball - if you see what I mean...later comedy episodes went down the parody of the character route and I just detest watching ACTORS pointing fingers at fans so WRITERS can get their jollies and their "in" jokes on screen..
So, yeah, I really liked Urgo even though it was a bit annoying at times. :))

I didn't remember that was from this episode, but I love that scene, too.
I love all the other moments you mentioned, too, especially the singing. RDA's singing was especially awesome, because he was *so* not into it. :-)
