Today's my last day of work for the week. Well, this job anyway. I couldn't get out of work on Saturday, but by then K. and I will have had 2 days together. By that time she'll probably be sick of me anyway, and sick of how boring I am. Seriously, I'm freaking out about how to keep her entertained enough - my life is that boring. I'm also worried because I have about $100 in my account right now and don't get paid until Monday. Maybe if I beg I can get it early.

At any rate, I am once again not motivated. I have lots of stuff to do, I just don't want to. There's some kind of celebration this morning - apparently there are people here who've been employed longer than I've been alive and they're getting recognition.

I'm having skirt issues, in that it's cotton and it sticks to my delicates. It's not too big a problem unless I'm making adjustments to the skirt, which makes unwelcome adjustments to my underwear. Aggravation already, and it's only 9:00. It looks cute, though. Heh.

The skirt issues remind me of a time when toolman and I were not yet married, but I went with my parents to the opening of the new Coast Guard station in Provincetown (Mass.). At one point, toolman took me into the boat house, and nobody was in there, so I hiked up my dress and adjusted my slip. He always remembers that fondly, because I had such class even then. *g* This is why I very rarely wear dresses or skirts and never wear slips any more even if I do wear a dress. hehe

I hope the adjustments weren't continually necessary all day long. *g*

About being boring...I am, too. I don't do a lot, unless you count folding laundry and running errands (like grocery shopping) and reading my flist to be exciting. *g*

What does your friend like to do? She might be content just hanging out with you. You have limited funds, but maybe there's a coffee shop/lunch counter kind of place you could go to eat and talk. Is there a park nearby? Usually when people visit us, though, we just feed them and sit around and talk.

Even when people come to stay like that, we don't do that much. A lot of the time, people just want to relax and don't want to rush around here, there, and everywhere. They come with us running errands, we prepare food together, or they hang out while we do it, and we eat and talk, and sometimes watch a movie on DVD.

Around here there are lighthouses so sometimes toolman will drive people to the nearest one and we all walk around. :-) People seem to like that. hehe When we travel on vacation, we often do similar things. We explore local parks or historic sites, but we just walk around and talk a lot.

Are there any tourist sites nearby that your friend might like to visit? Or maybe even just walking downtown might be fun if there's a nice area for that--where there might be bookstores and coffee shops or other little places to stop and look at stuff. Right before lyraeinne went off to college, we went in to Boston just to hang out for the day, because we hadn't been there in *so* long, and we all had a blast riding the subways and hanging around at government center and walking through Boston Commons. I bought bread from a street vendor and that was a lot of fun. (My MIL gave me money to spend, which was so sweet--like I was a little kid. *g*)

Anyway, something like that wouldn't cost much, but can be a lot of fun--to sort of soak up the local atmosphere a bit.

Well, it's just a thought. hehe I bet you'll have fun whatever you do.
