It's my pity party, I'll cry if I want to
Oct. 1st, 2019 07:24 pmI have a head cold. Fortunately, when I get those they tend to be pretty mild. No lingering cough, no overt signs. Unfortunately, they still wipe me out and right now...
Segue to the work situation. Colleague A went on vacation the first week of September. She fell ill. As she does every three-four months, usually out at least two weeks at a go. This time? She's out till November. NOVEMBER. And the thing of it is, every time she's out like this, we all have to pitch in - no big, it's what you do - but every time it happens it is discovered that she is barely competent at the job, so the stuff we get handed to do is a royal mess.
Also, Colleague B's elderly mother had major surgery a week and a half ago. She did not fare well, so Colleague B has also been out for a good chunk of time.
This all means that even though I feel miserable, I can't exactly take time off right now. The phones ring nonstop. I've barely managed to do my own work because when I try, someone else's jumps to the head of the line.
And, unrelated to work, I have finally had a look at all of my boots from the closet in which Roy was accidentally shut all day a couple of months ago. Literally, the only boots he did not damage with teeth or claw are the synthetic cheapies. My nice leather boots, the Keen, the Nine West, etc? All chomped.
