I think people are getting very twitchy around here, like is happening in most of the nation. Personally, I'm not opposed to a gradual reopen of things but the problem is this: people are involved. And by people I mean the same sort that flooded the beaches and coastal towns when this all started.

I dunno. We've kept things pretty minimally impacted here - is it because of the isolation and distancing? Perhaps, but now people will erroneously leap to the conclusion that there never was a danger because it didn't explode here, skipping over the fact that it didn't get a chance to because of limited interaction... tomato/tomahto.

I do think the people protesting the closures are a bit misguided, though.

If it were only themselves the protesters were endangering, I'd be tempted to say "eh, evolution in action", though it would be very uncharitable of me. But it's everyone else they come in contact with, and those people's contacts, etc.

I think this is what comes of being so polarized that we start with the assumption that anything the "other side" says is a lie meant to cheat us, or harm us, or make dupes of us. People who might listen to reason if it weren't politically charged... I think they're actually less likely to believe the truth depending on who says it.
