Comic Con poster reveal: Red Sonja.
Shall I list all the ways this is so, so, SO wrong, or would any of you like to take a stab at it? No pun intended.
It's amazing how overtly sexualized the industry can make an image of a woman, even in such a close shot, eh?

Date: 2008-07-26 07:30 pm (UTC)My mother is dealing with a work situation now in which some of her co-workers are going ga-ga over a girl that is, in some of their cases, young enough to be their granddaughter. They've been blinded by the implants and are letting the little head do all their thinking when she's around.
So I guess, unfortunately, Hollyweird does know the target audience. Or are they creating it with imagery like this?

That's just gross.

I don't think they're creating it from scratch, but I can't see how the exploitation and mainstreaming of it is helping matters. Meaning, the more people are inudated with these messages, the more everyone thinks it's perfectly okay to treat women like nothing but objects (sex or plain ol'). And then there's the whole grey area of women being "empowered" by their sex appeal. Lord, how I hate the word empowered. So many don't seem to know what it means. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
I'm not saying there aren't images of hot men out there, but...how many of them, really, are overtly sexualized like this?
I guess that makes me a prude? Who knows anymore.

Ugh.

I had to go back and look. *shudder* It is sparkly. Is that supposed to demonstrate the wet blood, or is this photoshopped mishmash of a woman truly a freak?
