I am embarrassed for Michael Weatherly, for appearing in "Asteroid."

He sure is pretty, though.

Oh, yes, do spring for the DVDs. *Well* worth it.

I got hook on MW via Dark Angel, but I gotta admit to preferring Tony to Logan. Logan's entirely too "tortured hero" to be completely satisfying. I like a bit of wacky in my heroes. :-) Logan's also a bit one-note (not shallow, mind you, just one-note). Tony's hidden his depths under all kinds of crap, but when they show, it's like finding a shiny pretty thing you just want to carry around in your pocket so you can pull it out from time to time and just grin at it. ;-)

There was one episode, I can't remember which one at the moment, sadly, where he pegged the killer during the first discussion of suspects. No one else agreed... and yet, he was right. :-) Happens far more often than it seems and really stands out when you watch the show in the condensed time frame DVDs allow.

I realize we, the audience, have privileged information about each of the characters (if nothing else, we see them when the other characters don't), but you'd think that someone else on the team, other than Gibbs, would have realized the goofball is just one facet. I find it interesting that Ducky (who noticed that Tony is just like Gibbs used to be) and Abby (but then she sees a whole lot more than most anyway) are the ones who get it, rather than the trained investigators. :-)

I'm right with you on how McGee and Ziva (and previously, Kate) view Tony. He does get them. He knows their strengths and respects that. Razzing McGee has forced him to climb out of that shell I thought might have been permanently welded around his personality. He's far more confident than he used to be. Part of that, of course, is experience, but a chunk of it is having to deal with what Tony dishes out.

Tony also knows where to draw the line. "Never kick a Probie when he's down." I can't remember the episode that was in. Then, in...umm... damn. The one where Gibbs was in the explosion. Tony sent McGee off to deal with the footlocker rather than forcing him into the laundry room after McGee had expressed that he didn't think he could go in there.

You'd think after the second or third time Tony has the answers after 'looking' like he's been goofing off, they'd get the message that he actually has a clue. :-)

As for Ducky and Abby... Ducky has a great deal of wisdom under his belt (not to mention having been around to see how Gibbs evolved for the last decade) and Abby seems to understand people far better than either McGee or Ziva. She, probably more than anyone else there, understands that appearances can be very deceiving.

What's really interesting is listening to the commentaries. I was listening to the one for "Dead Man Walking" last night. (Ziva kinda sorta falls for a guy she thinks she knows when he turns out to be a nuclear inspector and is being poisoned with radiation.) Sean Murray (McGee) and Cote de Pablo (Ziva and I probably butchered her name) do the commentary and remark several times on how Tony uses his flaky facade (my term :-) to keep anyone from ever seeing any deeper. It's good to know we're not making it up. ;-)
