superbadgirlI'm avoiding unpleasant work stuff, plus I had to walk to the bank at lunch and came back with the head-fuzzying headache again anyway.
Elbow are my band-boyfriends-of-the-minute. Well, always, but right now I'm feeling them more than usual. Some claim Wolf Parade's Grounds for Divorce is better, but since WP sounds way, WAY too much like Modest Mouse, I can't agree. Here's Elbow's Grounds for Divorce. Listen. Love it. Now.
Also, for some really inexplicable reason, I have this version of Rivers of Babylon in my head. I'm pretty sure my parents had this on 45. I have memories of my mother playing this and jiving around, snapping her fingers (because you can't dance and not snap if you're my mother). Or maybe that was what she did with Feliz Navidad. It was probably both, because my mother is a bit crazy.
It is wrong on so many levels that I cannot get this image of my mother or this song out of my aching head.
