I've been known to pull out the liners and use the jewel cases to house cd-rws and cd-roms that I use to backup my computer, or, no, no not to use for stuff that I DO NOT copy from the library. Cuz, that would be wrong :: slinks off::
Heh. I have FOUR boxes full of jewel cases. It's out of control. I need to weed through my music to see if I have some I don't remember, like, ever buying, but that's a task for another day. It's only 1:30 and I'm tired and my apartment is a disaster area!
Oh, I used to, but then the CD collection became too big for the spaces I was living in. I had to cram them into carrying cases for simple space issues. I still won't have room to display them in cases with the new place...
Understandable. To be honest, I've got some in, some out, because the cases I originally bought were no longer available when I needed more and I HATE mis-matching things. ;)
What do you keep the CDs in if not the jewel cases? I'm just curious because I know that you listen to CDs. Do you have a CD carry-case kind of thing? [Never mind. *G* I read the comment below in which you said you have carry cases.]
We have one of those CD-player things that holds 400 CDs so most of our store-bought CDs are in there except CDs I've purchased in the last four years or so. (I rarely bother to put them in since I rarely play them on the stereo.) We have the CD cases in a big CD storage thing built for storing CDs in their cases, but since we never use it, the thing is in the way no matter where we put it. Currently it's upstairs in the hallways in front of the bookcases. I would never, ever get rid of these, though. The case inserts are almost as valuable to me as the CDs.
But then again, you never know. I tossed out nearly all my homemade videotapes a couple of years ago. (I regret it, too, in some cases. *g* Dawson's Creek changed nearly all of the music on the DVDs, and the tapes had all the original music intact.)
I buy boxes of CD cases (usually slimcases) for homemade CDs and to put random CDs in--computer/audio/whatever--that I find around the house. I would never put an AC/DC CD into a Pink Floyd CD case or anything like that. *g*`
I also have a big CD case (with pages...like for trading cards except for CDs) that holds 240 CDs, but that's long since been filled, and I don't know what to do with those CDs any more since I don't really listen to them, but I want to keep them. (I have this lame plan that someday I'm going to have time to recreate playlists from all these CDs, because all of them are *really* really good. *g* Okay, maybe not all of them, but I really like a lot of my mix CDs.)
LOL, my entertainment system is...an old Sony boombox. I've never upgraded, and I have to say that when I move I'm glad for that. My music system can be carried in one hand while I carry something else in another. ;)
I suppose eventually I'll be like everyone else and DL my music...but I LOVE the tangible feel of something in my hand and I love going to places like Easy Street to actually browse through their selection. Getting it MP3 still seems like it's canned music to me.
