I like some meta, but how do you know if it's going to be good or depressing before you read it? I love, for example, delving a bit into the brotherly relationship...but get easily squicked when people segue into incest or make slashy references. Aiiieeee. I always just want to kneejerk and tell folks to let them be brothers.
I also tend to think people give too much credit to the writers by reading things into the stories that were probably never intended: the whole black/white thing with Bloodlust, for example.
