I think it might be both the local office and the drivers. I think I've just been lucky.
Can't do that at an apartment, though, which is why they just slap a sticker on the door and run without even checking to see if you're home. And yes, I have witnessed this on several occasions, since I often get home from work at the same time they hit my building on their route. ;)
*g* When I lived in Alaska (in a apartment) that never happened. I'm trying to remember if they ever left packages or not, but I don't remember. At every house we've lived, though, they always left packages out front, as far as I remember. The island where we lived in AK didn't have UPS Ground, though, just 2nd Day Air. The other options were FedEx and the USPS--and some places wouldn't ship to us. Period. I ordered most things priority mail as that was the cheapest besides media mail, which would take (not kidding) 21 days at the least, or regular mail which would also sometimes take quite a long time. Even priority mail would sometimes take over a week.
Anyway, not that this has anything to do with anything. *g*
