Target Disaster:

1) Both the up and down escalators were off...not just off, but cordoned so patrons couldn't use them to even *gasp* go the old fashioned one-foot-in-front-of-the-other route.

2) As a result of #1, the elevators were jam packed.

3) They didn't have the chair I wanted (and so am sitting in this uncomfortable thing that causes major back pain..

4) I bought the wrong battery for my phone (this one's not Target's fault. It's mine for forgetting to bring the bad battery with me).

5) The only frigging size T-shirts they had in white were XS and XXL.

6) Flats are in and I want a couple pair. Everyone else has cute ones...Target's selection was abysmal.

7) So many mirrors up, which revealed my nasty fat-girl arms at nearly every turn.

8) My debit card was declined, despite me having deposited a my bi-monthly pay in the account...and the fact that I rarely let my balance go beneath $300.

Y'know, it was experiences like this that really make me miss Minnesota. In Mpls./St. Paul, the Targets are everywhere and they're all good. I don't like driving miles for unsatisfactory shopping.

Icon used just because.

Is this a West Coast thing, because most of my errands drive me batty out here? I thought it was a big city thing, but I wouldn't expect Seattle to have the bullshit annoyances of LA like that. It's like the West Coast thinks you have to cram everyone really close together and build barely adequate stuff for the population. I mean, the stuff is there, but you have to kill yourself to get at it, whereas in places like MN and TN, shopping is pretty comfortable and simple.

I hope you guys at least have parking. That's one of the most homicide-inducing aspects of LA for me - no one has a parking lot, there's no street parking, and there are places where valet parking is literally mandatory. I just don't go to them because - hello - you ain't touchin' my car, Mr. "We are not responsible for your car being crushed into a cube even though we have the keys and are being paid to park it".

So at least you have parking, but it sounds like maybe businesses severely underestimate how many of their stores a town/city out west can support.

I've totally given up on Target, because even though there are a couple, they're just crammed silly with people morning to night. Very often, I find I don't even pay anymore by shopping at drugstores and other shops that are much more convenient - and often in walking distance from my apt.

Wow. I've never seen a Target so large that it needed an elevator or escalator.

I love the icon. *g*

I've never seen a Super Target, but I assume they're like a Super Walmart (which I hate *g*). All of the Targets that I have seen are much smaller than even the smallest Walmart, though, and all on one floor. Target is fairly new to the east coast, though, I think. I'm not sure. *g* I'd never seen one until maybe the last five years or so.

Jon/Stephen = Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert

That icon is from a picture from last night's Emmy Awards. When Jon Stewart won, Colbert was sitting right behind him and he reached over and kissed Jon. Then they hugged. It was really cute. I'm not really into RPS, but I just thought that scene was cute, so I snagged the icon. The whole reason I watched the Emmys was so that I could see them present an award. I had no idea either had been nominated.

I think they do this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVnl7LNyxXY) type of thing on purpose, though, to drive the guys as Fox News and the like a bit nuts. *g* It's all in good fun.

It's not the greatest as far as color and clarity goes, though. When I first looked at it, I thought it was only Stephen's hand on Jon. I didn't even see his face. *g* I'm hoping to find some more clear icons that are cropped a bit differently, though I don't really know what the screen caps looked like, so maybe that's not possible.
