So, yesterday on the way to the bus stop, I walked past some sort of medical emergency. I think poor homeless Harry fell down and hit his head or something. Those details are hazy. What's not hazy, though, is the fact that three of the four firemen on the scene were hot. And the one that wasn't hot wasn't ugly by any means.

Is it the uniform that makes guys hot, or do hot guys just go for jobs that require uniforms and therefore amp up their hotness level? Or are they just average looking guys and it's the uniform itself that's so freaking hot?

It's my belief that uniforms up the sexiness notion by a factor of 2, perhaps 3 depending on the type of uniform.

Factor 3 if it has velcro fasteners.
O:)

Next time you see a hot guy in a uniform, kindly ask him to take it off so you can report the results back to us.

Man, I'd be so busy at the War Museum doing that, I wouldn't get my job done! *giggles*

Y'know, when we had the observation for the ending of the Korean War back in July and the vets were out in their uniforms, even though they're old guys now, they still had that... je ne said quoi! Hotness... elder hotness?

Oh, it was cute bordering on HAWT with a few. One guy, who's an absolutely sweetheart... just picture a taller Jack with a babyface and a lovely smile. I think he was 18 when he went to Korea.

The uniforms really add something, it's true.

With dress blues and so on, it makes sense: those uniforms are designed to look smart, so they make the people in them look great. (I think wearing uniforms works on women, from what I've observed, too.)

But fireman uniforms are just dumpy and practical. I have no idea why it seems to look good.

But it does seem to me a lot of these guys are actually just better than average looking.

Maybe the real reason gays aren't allowed in the military is then they'd realize everybody alreay IN the military is gay, which would explain their interest in expertly costuming good-looking men. :D

Maybe firemen are just "hot".

Oh, that was so bad I'm just going to throw tomatoes at myself.

I'm going with a combination of factors:

1. They're required to be fit, so nice!
2. They wear tight t-shirts under the uniform (see point 1.)
3. They're trained to interact with the public.
4. The uniform inspires trust (and lust)

win/win!

When [livejournal.com profile] seanchaidh and I were in Ottawa last year, there was a fire alarm. We stood in the lobby and watched this very cute, baby-faced fireman. He was definitely eye candy.
