I'm melting

I thought there was a difference in the air this morning. I think the heat wave is finally hitting us. 85F/29C today, 93F/33C tomorrow. That's not really that terrible, of course, unless you're out working in it (and aren't used to it like us temperate-weathered Pac Northwesterners). I should probably forego the stairs/walk tomorrow at lunch, if my condition now is anything to go by. Maybe just lose the stairs and keep the walk.

And I question my intelligence for wearing my hair down. Talk about upping your body temperature several degrees. I spent half the time holding my hair up today. I even resorted to trying to use my watch as a hairband. That plan failed.

I hate it. What really annoys me is people who like it. I just don't get it.

I've come to the conclusion that my Tucson brother and family have all had their brains melted. All they can seem to talk about is how wonderful the 100+ temperatures are.

All I can seem to think, meanwhile, as I take in their golden tans and watch them shiver when it's 60+ is, "My word I hope you all are still smart enough to use sunblock."

And you know, good for them. Glad they're happy. Hope they don't get skin cancer. But I would complain about the heat and come inside even when I was a tiny kid, LOL! I've never liked it.

I'm happy they're happy as well. I just...I swear to all that's holy that is all they can talk about and they make it seem as though we should be incredibly jealous. My brother did that to me once and I shut him up with a quick, "Dude, do you not think I would have moved to that climate instead of coming to Seattle if I had wanted to?"

I hate it because I'm a sweater and tend to turn tomato red in about five seconds.

I do the tomato red thing, too. It's why I never work out at gyms - I turn this alarming shade, and they want to call an ambulance.

The heat is supposed to break by Saturday. The temps should be in the high 80's instead of the high 90's.

Yes, it is. But I'd have to be skilled enough to do that, and I've never figured out how to make that work.

I unwisely wore my skulls scarf for my tour tonight, at first thinking that the weather had cooled down. No way, especially not in the jail! *faints* Took off the scarf and tried to wrap it around my head to keep my hair away. No joy. SO I eventually had to stick it in my stupid pocket and leave it that way. Much pouting and sweating ensued.

That's the worst part for me. I wouldn't mind the heat if I didn't get all gross and sweaty, which I realize isn't really possible. Nast.
