Thinking long-term, I'd go with the queen, but I guess you do have to weigh that out with how long it would take you to get what you need for the bigger bed--and the space issue. When we were first married, we had only a full-size bed for a good many years before we could afford to buy a new bed. (The bed we had was mine from when I was a teen. Before that it was my sister's. Before that it belonged to some random friend of my parents. *g* Even the mattress was a hand-me-down.)
Anyway, my point was that full-size was good enough for us for a while, but we always knew we'd buy a bigger and nicer bed once we could afford it. If you feel like you'll need or want a queen even just a few years down the road, it might be a good idea to wait now until you can get what you really want vs. spending less money now, but then wanting/having to turn around in a few years to get a bigger bed.
OTOH, this might not matter. Who knows what will happen in five years? *g*
