American English already incorporates this at a basic level... neighbor vs neighbour, licorice vs liquorice, hiccup vs hiccough. But there is a point where it all becomes ridiculous, and one has to wonder why the same effort isn't put into learning English as it is, instead of some bizarre conept of English as it "should" be.

Well, if I had been around the many years ago those changes were made I probably would have been appalled by them. There is a difference between removing a 'u' and changing rough to ruff because it's easier, at least in my mind.

I tend to prefer British spellings, in any case. :P
