Ahhhh, yet another S1 episode that made me check my note-taking at
the door. It really was difficult to jot down the few things I did,
because even though I've seen this episode a million and one times, I
didn't want to miss a thing.

The story was compelling right from the get-go, and once again
established the pressures SG teams face to bring back the goods. And
Jack made an excellent point that the administration should really
consider: if we are unwilling to share our military secrets and
advances in technology with other inhabitants of our own planet, what
makes them think it's so easy to get our hands on alien races'
superior technology? They're not going to give it away freely.

And, lookit that, the Nox don't. SG-1's intention was to make off
with the invisibility factor of the Fenri by thievery and kidnapping.
Not so nice, when you think about it from the POV of both the Fenri
and the Nox, eh?

Amazed that it was Daniel's idea to go after Apophis, and I like that
Jack verifies with Teal'c that he'll be okay with capturing his
former god, only Jack should really ask *Daniel* that question as
well.

The scene where they wake up after being...dead is lovely and
gradual, from the "I thought heaven would be a little more upscale"
to "Well, this is a surprise, then." It boggles my mind that they can
take it in so readily. Personally, I'd freak out if I woke up after
being, y'know, dead. Daniel might have experienced that already, but
the others haven't. ;)

Right away, the Nox treat SG-1 like they're puppies - and SG-1
haven't a clue that it's happening. They think the Nox are the sweet
things to be protected at the very same time the Nox are very subtley
indicating their superiority. It's fascinating, really, because if
you look closely enough, you really do get glimpses into different
POVs (rather than sole focus on SG-1).

The music is very lovely and ethereal in this episode. It's perfect.

This is a very quotable episode:

The "bad" conversation is cute - you can tell Jack and Daniel haven't
*quite* hit their stride with that (or should I say their actors),
and yet it works. ;)

"And we can't kill him, either." {Insert quizzical and disturbed
looks here.} "I wasn't considering it, I was just stating a fact."

"*Get* afraid!"

"The very young do not always do what they are told."

"Fear not."

"Maybe one day you will learn that your way is not the only way."

Word to that, Anteus!

The Nox always leaves me with an extremely warm feeling, and the
desire to read fan fiction set in the early seasons. Oddly, though,
when I tried to find missing scenes or tags for it, I couldn't find
any! There have to be some out there...
