Two hours of pushin' broom

*sigh*
What did I do this Memorial Day? Swept a dingy garage. The same dingy garage I sweep perpetually, even though it makes not one iota of difference if I do or not.
And I wonder why I have no life. Who as time for fun when she has to sweep, sweep and sweep some more?
To be fair, I did manage to edit (again) a story and hope that means I'll start progressing on it instead of letting it just collect dust.
And I also gave myself a foot soak and a fresh coat of toenail polish. Ahhh, my feet are happy. It seems a shame I have to go find a set of stairs to climb multiple times now.

The few times I've managed to finish a story, I've edited it and edited it until I killed it dead. *g* I hope you've been more successful with yours. :-)

Date: 2006-05-30 04:11 pm (UTC)The editing was because I got very out of practice writing Teal'c and it showed in a almost every single chapter of his. Yikes. If you don't use it, you really do lose it.

Date: 2006-05-30 07:31 pm (UTC)hehe I like that one. I don't remember it, so I probably haven't seen that episode yet. I'm heartbroken that they seem to be skipping over Wendigo this week. In

That's true, but at least it comes back with a little practice. I find that with playing the guitar. If I don't play for a few weeks, I can still pick it up and play the songs I know most, but after once or twice, I start making more mistakes because I can't keep it up, if that makes sense. If I don't play certain songs for months at a time, then I forget the song--even if it's a song I've been playing for 30 years. I have to figure it out again--even if I have the tabs of the music right in front of me. My fingers and brain have to relearn the connections, but it's easier because they sort of know--like a well-worn path that's slightly overgrown.
Anyway, I think writing is a lot like that. I need to practice more, then maybe I'd come up with something I'd actually let someone else see. *g*
Anyway, have fun with the editing. :-)

Date: 2006-05-30 09:50 pm (UTC)You still have that link for the place I go to for squinties? I just watched Hell House there again this weekend. ;)
I continue to avoid delving too deeply into that fandom, even lurking. Not sure why, because the brothers and their dad are certainly very interesting.

Date: 2006-05-30 10:45 pm (UTC)I do, I think. I signed up for the message board, anyway. I had hoped that they'd show repeats so I wouldn't have to watch on squinty, though. *g*

They are very fascinating. The fandom is still really new. I'm not heavily involved in the fandom now, but I sort of monitor the general communities for any info or news. (The news about JDM being on a new show turned out to be true, too. It's great for him, but I hope it doesn't mean that he'll not be on SPN any more. JP said that they were trying to get him for their show, possibly full-time.)
It's understandable to be a bit gun-shy with this fandom for a variety of reasons, though. hehe The SPN fandom is a bit weird at times, but I've managed to avoid anything I'm not interested in fairly easily and haven't really seen any big debates crop up anywhere.
I like the general SPN communities for info and heavy_meta is great for the essays about the characters and episodes--especially ones I haven't yet seen. I don't really know anyone in the fandom, other than the few people that I knew who were already watching the show before me.

Date: 2006-05-30 11:03 pm (UTC)There was gossip about this around a few days ago or last week sometime--at the same time Jared P. said that they were trying to get JDM for SPN possibly permanently. (I forget exactly what he said now and don't have the link to the article, but I got the impression he meant full time, because he said he was hoping that it could now be the three of them on adventures together every week or something like that.)

Date: 2006-05-31 07:05 pm (UTC)No, seriously, I can also understand why he'd like this other show. Apparently GA is a hit (ggrrrr) and why wouldn't he want work for and with people who are creating hit TV shows and like him enough to create a show with him in mind for a major role? Unless the role sucked and the creators were evil, it'd be foolish to turn it down.
Still, I hope it leaves him with enough time to be on SPN at least sometimes, as I'd rather see him on SPN, too. I never even watched GA--not even to see him--because I still have a grudge against that show. *g*
