Skin-cancered sister B. told me to run to the dermatologist, not walk, when she found out about the bleeding mole. I suppose I already knew that, but the voice of experience has really convinced me. Now I, the insurance administrator here, need to figure out if I need to get a referral for a dermatologist or if that's a self-referral thing through my HMO. I hope it's self-referral. I don't want to see my PCP first (though I have things to discuss with her, too).

In other news, it feels as though a woolly mammoth is sitting on my chest, but I'm okay with that because my archenemy for the Board meeting cannot attend (and I won't be here for the June one and there isn't a meeting in July, so I don't have to see the guy until August, yay). Excellent.

Did it just spontaneously start bleeding or had you scratched it?

Spontaneous. I have very sensitive skin, so when it started to be tender I assumed it was the slight change in routine/product from when I traveled last weekend. Four days later, it still bleeds (only when I blot my face dry after washing, but it's still worrisome).

Well, I am glad you're taking your sister's advice. Better safe than sorry if it's in the family. Though, I must admit, I never knew that mole bleeding even happened.

I had one chopped off when I was a kid because it looked dangerous but that was based on the size, color, and shape.

Keep us posted. Hopefully, it won't be a big deal :(

I hope so, too! I do need to get the moles on my back checked out anyway (we were instructed to do that 2 years ago when my sister was diagnosed and I never did), so this is just a motivator.

I wouldn't cry to lose any of my other moles, but I have fondness for the one by my eye. I know that sounds strange and should totally not be what I'm concerned about.
