I thought I was going to be so clever and watch CSI on regular TV (sans digital cable) so I could tape Supernatural and also get to watch that tonight, but then I foolishly saw clips from CSI and Nick looks like something I want to see with crystal clarity. ;) The regular TV version would be very, very snowy.

*grumble*

Have I mentioned in the last 20 posts how much good it would do me to get a life?

And yes, loved Supernatural. I really liked Dad and I loved Dean standing up to him again. This show rocks!

Putting this under a cut, just in case people stumble along here.

I found it very telling that John was willing to give up the Big Showdown if it meant saving his friends, even though he had to know it wouldn't go well. It screamed trap to everyone involved and it didn't surprise me a whit to find out S and D weren't able to kill it. I'm not convinced what was in the baby's room was the full demon.

I wonder what it is about these babies that the demon seeks out. Are they all 'gifted' like Sam, or does the 'gift' only come after the demon gets its hands on them? I thought the mother kind of hinted something about the baby reading thoughts (jokingly), yet that might be the case.

Best bit - the last scenes. Holy smokes, I think it really pained Dean to admit how fricking scared and lonely he is, has always been. Sam doesn't feel it to the same extent because he has had and used confidence all his life, apparently, where Dean was cut down by his father quite a lot (I think).

Argh! I could totally ramble on forever.

Yes, I thought it was a huge indicator of John's character that he wasn't willing to sacrifice more friends even though he's been looking for revenge for 22 years. Even knowing it was a trap, even knowing he was leaving his sons, he wasn't willing to let people he cared about die.

I noticed the reading thoughts comment, too. Also that the baby was always happy. Did we ever find out if the demon takes the babies? I'm thinking that they probably think the child dies in the fire, but I don't know that we know that.

Yes, that final scene was awesome. I don't think Sam feels it as much because he's always had Dean there at his back, he's never been afraid that he would be alone. Dean remembers losing his mom, and I'm sure he's always afraid that he's going to lose his father and brother. Sam left which proves he can. What hell was Dean's life in those couple of years without his brother?

I thought it was telling when Dad said he wished he could give them the lives they wanted - Sam an education and Dean a home. Wow!

Very good question. It also seems pretty essential that the mother be physically in the room - notice the blood/cut hovers right around her abdomen. I imagine that somehow the demon manages to draw her attentioin (counting on the male tendency to never hear a baby fuss at night; my sister says she pokes, prods and elbows her hubby but he never moves) and get her in there.

What I really wonder is...why Jessica? It wasn't going for a baby then, it was gunning straight for Sam. Maybe not to snatch him, but to get him to do something - join Dean, maybe? But why?

Every day I just want to hug Dean tighter. And I wanted to hug Sam at the end there, too, once he got done with being scary/enraged.
