underwhelming
May. 28th, 2021 07:37 pmAs part of a health initiative through my insurance, I downloaded an app for my phone which tracks activity, etc. It's fine, but problematic in that I don't carry my phone everywhere so it's not truly representative unless I am conscious about having it on me.
That said, last week I walked approximately ten miles. You know how many calories that burns? 660.
What a slap in the face! 660 for hours on my feet. Pfft.
I average about 11K steps a day, or about five miles. The sleep tracker is also interesting. Unless I have something wired to me to show the moments I wake in the middle of the night, it's not terribly accurate. That said, I've been sleeping better.
I may uninstall it now that I know my baseline. I was primarily curious because I don't really measure in distance so much as time.
Today I mowed the lawn and it took two hours because I always get distracted by other things, then walked about an hour with Walter. Round about the end of that I realized that half a protein bar, a cherry chocolate shortbread biscuit and a cup of coffee probably hadn't been enough food for the day.
So I ate a bunch for dinner, rounded it out with a little chocolate cake with strawberries and whipped cream which probably negated all prior activity but, damn, it was tasty.
Thus ends today's Dear Diary.
