Does anyone have pet insurance for their furry companions? I'm thinking as my OGs age, it might be a good idea to invest in it.

I took Roy and John up to the vet this AM for their very first dental cleaning. They are 10.5. At their last check up, the vet was all, "I couldn't get a great look, they didn't enjoy us messing with their mouths, but we're probably looking at extractions..."

Well. Not only do they not need extractions, aside from one small spot on Johnny's gums being sensitive, the vet said they have the teeth of cats half their age. Tada.

However, having never had such a procedure, I feel like I agreed to way more intervention than I would have had to - extra bloodwork, extra monitoring, etc. It doubled my bill. Thankfully, I have the money. It's just ... ouch. Lesson learned.

Now they are both cold shouldering me. Johnny especially wants nothing to do with me, and she's my nighttime cuddle pal. She did not have interest in dinner, which is to be expected, but she has lost a noticeable amount of weight of late - her bloodwork and extra thyroid test came back fine. So I'm still worried about that and am definitely keeping an eye on her.

Roy ate like a hog.

I did get some kisses from him and his breath is WORLD'S better. I wish I had the fortitude to brush their teeth daily. Can you imagine brushing four cats' teeth and one dog's daily? Oy vey.

I just painted my toenails and my head hurts from the fumes. Must go lie down.

I have thought about getting pet insurance because Elsa is getting older. She's kind of sedentary and she likes her food way too much!
