Life with cats

Literally two minutes later: curls up on lap, purring and content.
Also, I had an iced mocha at like 3 PM for some odd reason. Not odd at all, actually, I had a craving and I had a drink and so I drank it. Anywhoooooo, I am wired now. I've been wired since 3:05. I had arranged for my colleague's daughter to come take care of my cats twice daily next week while I'm away and jokingly told her the other day that if she really wanted to she could stay at my house if her dads drive her too crazy. Turns out, they're driving her crazy and she'd love the opportunity to be away for a bit. LOL. Ah, teenage girls.
Frankly, though, I can't blame her. Her dad drives me crazy as an adult woman; as a teenager, he would have been the worst to me. The. Worst. Anyway, I trust this girl. She came over for my spare keys and a brief walk through of the house. And, lo, she met Walter and he ... loved her instantly. I realize that I always expect him to chomp and have no way to gauge who he'll approve of and who he doesn't care for. So, now she'll be house, cat and dog sitting... Relieved, as I was not keen on kenneling him.
We had our first big storm this week. In fact, it's barely stopped raining since yesterday afternoon. Soggy! Power went out at work at 12:30. I left at 1:15 (scheduled) and it was still out. Went to the store, they were also out despite the fact nearer businesses to my office were up and running. Very odd. They were actively tarping open refrigerated cases and had blocked off the freezer sections. After walking past the milk/cream section and seeing a woman literally standing there trying to decide what to get with the door wide open, I can't fault them from trying to keep unthinking people out. It's been warm and blustery. Sleep was restless last night, as something kept banging against the side of the house.
