Mostly. There is a bit of clean up work to do, as there's an edge on the far side of the tub (not pictured) that's just a hair wider than the width of the tub. I don't know why this was done, but it's irksome! What has been in place previously: a ginormous glob of caulk. Ugly! Tile guy is still trying to come up with a solution.

Before
^Standard subway tile size, standard layout. As tile guy was looking at it to bid, he noted that he could tell it was novice work, as the horizontal tiles did not line up at all on short and long walls. I hadn't ever noticed! LOL. I think I was too busy being bothered by the discoloring grout.

Which, it was discovered after the tile came down, was because of a leak around the window and the fact that the prior installer used tape on the seams create by the sheets of cement board. Tile guy said the tape seemed standard brown tape and it was moldy. Also moldy, the ceiling. He said he could tile it over, but recommended against it. I think part of that was he didn't want to tile a ceiling, but I was okay with that. This way if (when) mildew and mold starts, I can see it and deal with it. My bathroom does not have a fan, super old school.

Anyway, the road so far:
After
^Larger subway, stacked layout. I wanted a little more modern, but not so modern it would be jarring to the rest of my house, which retains its 50s charm. I think this works, and I am SO happy I went with darker grout. I love the look. Hopefully won't get tired of it. Still at stroke-the-walls-lovingly-while-in-the-shower mode right now. AKA, honeymoon stage.

Plan is to re-paint and also paint the vanity and other small storage cabinets tucked in a little alcove behind the tub. Problem is I can't pick paint. With the green, I knew what I wanted. Truthfully, I still like the green a lot. Was going to go bronzed orange, couldn't find the right color. Now kind of thinking turquoise, but again - the right color eludes me. I also am gravitating more toward the greens. Maybe seafoam instead of neon. Heh.

But the tub needs resurfacing in the worst way now! It looks terribly dingy next to the new tile.

Just thought I'd share, even if no one cares. ;)
