Aw, poor Sam. Not a perfect episode by any stretch, but it was pretty good. It seems clear to me Ruby was lying about there not being a way to save Dean. I mean, if she wants Sam to be a fighter, she's got to get Dean out of the picture. And while he's still around, why not have him help turn Sam into a killing machine? Blech.

I have to admit, too, that I didn't really get the Trickster's message either, and unlike Sam I wasn't overwrought with grief and anger and dead inside. He says Dean is Sam's weakness, but I think the real threat of Dean to evil things is that he's Sam's strength. He keeps the kid good without even knowing it. Take that away, and you get Scary!Sammy that apparently has no difficulty in kill, kill, kill 24/7.

Is it wrong to admit I am a little bit disappointed we didn't get to see Sam actually mourn. All the Groundhog Day deaths, he was snapped back to waking up and the last one went from awkward hug to a much scarier version of John. (Don't tell me no one noticed the similiarities, only Sam was disturbingly precise down to the last lead pinned on the wall...)

I probably could say more. Maybe I will later. I think I just maxed out my upright and sitting time for now, though. All of two minutes. Yay.

ETA a few more thoughts under the cut. I shouldn't have. Ouch. I'm such a wimp.
