If we want to talk about game being fair, then I have to say watching this episode made me want to hunt both Jack and Daniel. Teal'c was no slouch either, but the drool factor with Jack and Daniel was high. So high I could easily overlook plot holes. It's hard to spot plot holes while staring at Jack in dress blues, you know?
Don't expect any coherency with this little post.
I really think I would have enjoyed this episode even if Jack and Daniel weren't being so delicious in it. The opening scene, the awards ceremony was lovely - I enjoyed the whole sentiment and liked Simms' speech a lot. I liked him, and wouldn't have minded seeing him again. Alas, it was not to be, just like Jack's speech was not to be. ;)
I have to admit I've never figured out what Thor's fascination with Jack is all about. I know, I know, leading man syndrome, but sometimes it really doesn't make sense. I mean, who would you choose to represent Earth in touchy "negotiations" (<--they SO weren't negotiations, for the record), the guy who tends to shoot off his mouth, or the one labeled more of the diplomat of the group? I'm just sayin'. Of course, the Asgard might have planned for it to go poorly and needed Jack for that?
Have I mentioned Jack = yummmmm in dress blues?
Did anyone else kind of cringe that they revealed Teal'c's personal vendetta (Same on Daniel, really, for not revealing that tidbit. Bad Daniel, no cookie.), and then minutes later revealed that Sam might also have mixed feelings for Cronus? Not saying it wasn't valid, it just would have been nice for it to have been about Teal'c only. I don't know, I just thought that bit about Jolinar having bad history with Cronus was kind of shoehorned in.
Why on Earth would Teal'c respond to Cronus' summons, anyway, especially after the dude was pretty ominous about what would happen if he saw Teal'c again? Poor T, victim of convenience writing!
The treaty, by the way, was complete and utter bullcrap. Thank goodness Nirrti screwed up. I mean, the actual negotiations only started after that, and even so Earth got a bum deal. Lousy snakes.
Have I mentioned Daniel = yummmmm? Because, really. I love that tweed jacket for some reason.
Okay, quotes now?
"Normally, I’m a man of very few words…" (<--Zip, and there he goes!)
"Uh, the second Goa’uld representative we’re expecting is YU."
"Me?"
"YU is the name of the Goa’uld."
"Sorry." (<--I mean, how could they not go for the Yu/you jokes?)
"Thank Yu." [Insert Daniel glare 'o doom] "Sorry."
"I mean no disrespect. But I have given my allegiance to you, to the SGC and to the people of this world, freely. I will, however, not see to the petty needs of these Goa’ulds."
"I’ll…see to the petty needs of the Goa’uld, sir." (<--Just cute.)
"Apparently we said hello, insulted each other and broke for recess."
"Well, Daniel typed up a formal letter, in Goa’uld, and I signed it. That boy can really grovel if he has to."
"Wait! Right there! Is that a head nod? A nod is usually down and back up, but that just went down…"
"Certainly not those lying, scheming, no good for nothing, slimy, over-dressed style mongers…" (<--Quite possibly my favorite line ever.)
"Boy, is she gonna get it."
"My heart bleeds." (<--My two favorite guys, with a really good ending closing to this ep, I thought.)
Also, if anyone with skillz would make my icon better...
