I think Kripke needs to realize that most people don't care for these new characters and he should keep sticking with what worked, aka, the brothers on their own fighting demons. Hell, even having too much Daddy!Winchester tended to ruin the dynamic.
I'm avoiding fandom, but have seen a number of people who love the changes. It's a matter of perspective, I suppose...but overall? I balk at change when it's not necessary, and especially when it's, well, bad. These changes were really, really unnecessary, especially considering it's only the sophomore year of the show.
I could have understood if this was like 4 seasons down the line, and he felt he needed to change stuff up, open up their world a little bit, but it's only the second season and it's beginning to piss me off.
