Whomever the genius is who decided it would be cute to smush people's names who are dating (or, in fictional terms, who people want paired up) together should be put in prison. Or dipped in hot oil. Brangelina? Oy, that's lame.

How did that become so mainstream that the media does it now? It was bad enough in fandom.

It's been happening for ages now. I always thought that the media is what influenced the fandoms. Because Brangelina and Bennifer are really old now.

Yeah, I know it's not a new phenomenon. I heard it fandoms long before I heard it in media, though.

I'd only heard it in fandom over the past year or two. But then again, I rather hate those stupid abbreviated names, so I tend to remain purfosefully ignorant of them.

The first time I had heard of them was with SGA. Now, I know of Smallville. I think people are trying to get it going in SG-1, but I never really see it stick.

There's been "Snickers" (Sara/Nick) on CSI for a long time now, probably from very early on in that show. So, maybe 6-7 years now.

And I'm sure there's something that predates that. It's just one of those things that someone, somewhere was just too, too cute. To some I suppose it is. To me, it's not-so-vaguely nauseating. ;)

I've seen several attempts to use it in SG-1, but I think most of the fans are rather set in their ways and it hasn't taken. Seriously, is it that difficult to write Jack/Daniel or J/D?
