Twists will only get you so far. It felt, honestly, like they were fanfic writers who tossed in whatever sounded good just because they wanted a reaction. Even if it made no sense and the story itself lost coherence.
They were putting in twists for the sake of twists in order to string viewers along. At this point, I don't think there's any way for there to be a coherent storyline.
Could be interesting, but I'm not sure how willing people in the US are to let go of things.
I think we're getting used to the idea, with many cable shows only having 13 eps in a season. What I'm thinking is having a season planned out before it airs, and if it does well you can plan out another season. But the major plots each season should be resolved and not dragged on for years.
