About the only thing I don't love about this episode is the title, and that's simply because of Stargate's use of "serpent" in so many bleeping titles over the years. I get them confused. I mean, serpent is better than snake as far as words go and I can see why there was the allure. But I still get confused. Anyway, another relatively noteless viewing. I can't help it. This arc is just so damn cool, I want to watch only and not really take my eyes off the screen.

Can I just say that while Hammond was still rolling over, at least he affirmed to Jack that he hadn't sat around with his thumb up his bum. From his perspective, he'd fought the fight. And that's true - it's not like Hammond's a field officer. His job is dealing with bureaucracy, and he does it well. It just didn't work out as it should have this time, and he knew it. Poor guy, really.

I was a bit bothered by Jack's continued reluctance to believe Daniel. I mean, why was he getting so upset about that? Either way...can you say sparks? Jack and Daniel just...they *are* Stargate here. There's such antagonism and yet an intense connection. You can see it in the way they look at each other. And Sam and Teal'c are fantastic complements, if you will, for the Jack/Daniel focus.

I digress. I love the scene where they're deciding to go. It's very stressful. I have a feeling Jack would have gone through the 'gate with Teal'c even if they hadn't decided to embark on the mission, just like he said he would in Politics. Thankfully, some good arguing on Daniel's part and a lot of deliberation and good points made by Sam, we didn't lose Jack and Teal'c forever. I think it was over as soon as Daniel asked Jack how he'd feel.

I liked SG-1 in rogue get-up. Let me just get this out of the way. They all look good in black camos. But Daniel is a smokin' hottie in them. Yeah, so I'm biased. Tell me he's not.

I liked SG-1 rogue. Period. I do have to say, though, that poor Daniel looked like a straggling puppy on that ship. I don't know why they kept letting him lag behind. They know he's not military. He should not be at the six position, ever. And yet he was the whole episode through. Drove me bonkers.

I still do not get how Skaara ended up as Apophis's kid. I swear he got taken by a different couple. I suppose, technically, anyone of the hosts chosen that day would have ended up with one of Apophis's, ahem, babies in them. But I still don't get it.

And I still don't like that Jack is the only one reacting emotionally about seeing Skaara as Klorel. Daniel's pretty good at distancing himself, but come on! Brother in law. Spent a year together. If I could go back and fix one thing about this episode, it would be that. Oh, and Skaara/Klorel's wig in the scene where Jack shoots him with a zat. That bugs me. And they shouldn't have locked themselves in the pel'tak. They should have taken Skaara/Klorel elsewhere. There seemed lots of nooks and crannies to hide in, after all.

Oh, the angst in the scene where Daniel's being ribboned. It made my little hurt/comfort heart patter. I don't quite know why Teal'c didn't shoot Klorel with his zat, but I'm going to reason that if he'd done that while the hand device was being used, that would have led to serious, rapid melting of Daniel's brain.

Scattered quotes:

"Let me ask you something, Jack. If we don't go through now and the Goa'uld do attack later, how're you going to feel?"

"I believe a medical attack could be successful."

"Surgical attack, Teal'c. It's surgical attack, and I'd feel like an idiot."

"I understand that, Colonel, thank you. I'm going."

"Right. Let's call it a zat gun, huh?"

"Uh oh."

"I always get a happy, tingly feeling when I see those guys."

"Think it gets Showtime?" (I like the syndie version of "Mmmm, Goa'uld TV" as well.)

Love Davis, when referencing Daniel's jaunt to an alternate reality: "That...other place."

"Uh, seen a bathroom around here?"

"Hey, Pops."

I love the whole idea behind the episode. I thought it was very well executed, and definitely had me on the edge of my seat. I could go on making random comments for quite a while, but I'll spare you all. They certainly did cliffhanger right...this once. ;)
