I finally figured something out today. The guy in #801 is very friendly and chatty to me when he's all alone. Normal conversation type stuff, nothing more. It's just that when he and his girlfriend (other occupant of #801) walk through the lobby together...he doesn't even glance at me or say hi when I say hi to both of them.

I find that very odd, and is it wrong that I automatically label it creep-attitude?

Hottie neighbor trotted by with a hottie friend today. Damnit.

No, I think it's very guy behavior IMO. It is exasperating, however. If you know his g-friend's name, just start saying hello to *her*.

I'm glad you said this, because I was going to say, "Do they ever NOT do this?" I always thought it was out of fear the gf or wife would get jealous. So I always tried to be friendly to her more than him and put her at ease. And good grief, some women even get wary at that. Makes me wonder what sort of female friends they've had in the past.

Oh, not all of them do it. Hottie neighbor's hottie brother walks by with his girlfriend all the time, and is just as cheerful and chatty toward me as he ever is alone.

Maybe most guys expect women to be jealous over simple, silly things. That's not a good sign.

Hmm. I'm stunned every time a guy DOESN'T do that. Then again, I've had a shocking number of women get jealous and territorial around me, and all I can think is, "Oh, if only you knew what my chances of stealing your man would be if I DID try."

I tend to be more relaxed and comfortable around 'safe' guys - that is, guys who are taken and not interested. I suppose that might make the interaction seem more than it is to a girlfriend? I dunno.

It could. Who knows how people read things, really? Sometimes I even think it's that the guy actually DOES think you're cute and is overcompensating for fear she'll pick up on it.

If he's normal when she isn't around, then I would say she is the jealous type and he doesn't want to feed the fire by talking to other women when she's around. How does she treat you? What kind of vibes do yu get from her? If he was creepy/invading your space/talking about way personal stuff when she isn't around, then I'd say he was a jerk and the type to step out on her.

Actually, she's definitely not the friendliest person in the world, so that might have some truth to it.
