Solitudes is an ep that I used to really like, and I still do, but not to the same level. I don't know why, precisely. Maybe it's the fake plastic glaciers or Sam not thinking to dial a different address or Daniel walking around with a mere headache after being unconscious for a good number of hours.
It did start out with a bang, though - holy schneikes did Daniel come a flyin' through the 'gate, and Teal'c too. Ouch.
I've often wondered why Sam didn't try to set the leg she knew was broken while Jack was unconscious. Seems like that would have been a better idea to waiting until he was awake and able to feel the pain more. I dunno, guess that's just me.
HATE Sam's immediate assumption (she assumes a bit in this episode) that Daniel misdialed, despite clear evidence that couldn't be the case. Does she think D and T just disappeared after they came through the Stargate? Duh.
LOVE Jack telling her right away that was impossible, even though he then calls out in irritation for Daniel.
Negative Nelly much, Sam? Jeez. Can't say I'd be any more positive, but there's Jack lying all wounded and bleeding internally and he's able to keep positive thoughts flowing. At every turn, Sam's pretty fatalistic.
Love the shot of Daniel waking up - the close up on the eye, the blurry shot of Teal'c and Daniel's weak little "Teal'c" coupled with his immediate denial that Jack and Sam hadn't followed them. Daniel's a pretty determined puppy in this episode. Even though he shouldn't have been in any condition to walk around and think logically after being out for several hours. Seriously.
First appearance of Siler in any great capacity?
I did like how Sam and Daniel kind of mirror each other. They might have completely different thought processes, but they ultimately get to the same point. I think Daniel knew the answer of the second Stargate being on Earth before he realized he knew it, though. Instinctive knowledge that his brain just needed time to catch up with.
Poor Jack, but what a trooper, really. I liked the little tidbits revealed about his past, which we alreay knew wasn't exactly smooth sailing.
I get that Sam was under extreme circumstances, but I still don't get why it never even occurred to her to dial a different address. Not sure I buy the magic reset, either, but even if she hadn't thought of dialling another address before that, she should have after something finally happened.
Smart Daniel - eye on watch. I swear I saw him connecting dots in that scene. It was visible on his face the second he figured things out.
Random quotes (surprisingly not many):
"You wouldn't think jagged bone digging into raw nerves would hurt, but it does."
"I was afraid you'd try to put a splint on it."
"We came through so fast I don't even remember hitting the *ramp*." (<--okay, so not that quoteable, but Daniel sounds darn cuted when he says *ramp* like that)
"What happens when you dial your own phone number?" Beat. "Wrong person to ask. What happens when you dial your own phone number?"
Not a bad episode, but not the best either. I like the Daniel bits the best, but I'm biased. ;)

LOL, ditto! Daniel's bits are the best! *eg*
The Daniel and Teal'c show were pretty much the only reasons why I enjoyed this ep. Not much of a Jack whumper, so I kinda winced at those parts and felt lots of sympathy towards him for potentially having to spend the rest of forever with Carter. ;)
