Fairweather Fan
Feb. 27th, 2022 05:17 pmLike a true North Coaster, Walter has completely forgotten the weeks of relatively nice, sunny weather we've just had after a day and a half of normal winter rain.

Honestly, though, he had a tummy upset last night and has been a bit low energy today. That's probably as much to do with it. He did snag something unidentifiable off the ground before I could stop him yesterday while we walked for miles in the same rain. Folks, I have literally had to pry his jaws open and yank random foodstuffs out of it. He's eaten things that have made him vomit before, yet never learns.
Speaking of the return of the rain. I foolishly was "influenced" by sponsored content - I bought a pair of Vessi sneakers. They're waterproof, guaranteed to keep you dry no matter the weather, for the life of the shoe. And it's true. The problem is, the life of the shoe is not very long. I bought them in November, and already the sole is worn clean through. Prior to that, the genetic gift my mom gave me of upturned big toes had me poke a hole through the interior and this also led to dampness. I had to wear them sockless because they're also difficult to put on while wearing socks. Like, I would have to wrestle for minutes with them, and my poor arthritic hands did not appreciate the work. The material they're made out of didn't pair well with cotton socks, in my experience.
Long story short: don't buy Vessis if you walk a lot, overpronate and have upturned toenails that like to shred things. It's not a great investment for longevity alone.
