The Boys and other things
Jan. 16th, 2021 06:36 pmSince I heard Jensen Ackles was joining Prime original show The Boys, I thought I'd try to watch it. While I think the premise is interesting, the execution seems to be, "Wheee, we're not on network TV so we can be unnecessarily graphic and crass! We so edgy!"
Which doesn't interest me. You should be able to tell a compelling story without excess language (sorry not sorry, the C word is a non-starter with me) and gore.
I guess maybe I'm a prude, but at some point it goes from okay to distracting.
And as far as Jared Padalecki's upcoming show: It's 2021. Could we NOT refrigerate the wife as the primary impetus for the main character's life path?
There, got that off my chest.
In other news, had to have a plumber out to fix a clog. He suggested replacing pipes downstairs. Considering the last time I had a clog issue was eight years or so ago, I am putting that on the list but not at the top.
Speaking of eight years - my laptop is that old. It's served me well, especially since the person who sold it to me told me it would likely crap out after two. Well yesterday I cracked it open and the facing for the monitor just busted into pieces. I remedied to a point, and it will hopefully hold. So, there's an expense I can totally swing but hadn't anticipated being an immediate need. Oh well. Like I said, eight year old laptop. It's time.
I walked to the grocery store today and it was only when I got back that I realized the cashier (my mistake, he was open and the self checks were in use) completely ignored two items with significant coupons that I would not have otherwise put in my cart. So now I gotta schlep back there to resolve. I guess it's good exercise.
