The agony of da feet
Feb. 20th, 2016 10:38 amI've had a standing desk for a couple of years. Generally, I like it - though I've noticed a definite decline in posture. This is the opposite of the intentions behind the standing desk, though I also wanted it so I could see outside. Truthfully, I miss sitting on my exercise ball and may switch back, even if my boss hinted that the exercise ball was "a liability issue". <-- BS, btw. I've had a coworker fall off of her regular office chair more times than I've ever fallen off of the ball (never). I'd just really miss being able to see outside just by looking away from the computer, though I suppose I could just stand and stretch more frequently if I revert back to a seated desk.
Anyway, since standing not only has my posture gotten worse, but my right foot has as well. I'm not quite sure what it is - the left is fine. I suspect it's very much tied to the back/posture thing, but I don't know how to correct it. I do wear heels to work, but take them off in favor of Crocs at my desk. I've noticed that no matter the shoe or whether or not I'm standing, I hold my right foot funny. Right now, in fact, it feels "curled in". I don't know how else to describe it. As a result, though, I have intense pain on the ball of my foot, right behind my middle toe. It doesn't matter if I've been standing for ages, stupidly walking through a store with heels on (I don't regularly wear this type of shoe if I've got distances to walk) or have been sleeping all night; I end up hobbling. Sometimes it's actually worst coming off of a resting period. Yesterday my right foot started clicking like bones were rubbing together.
Yes, I'm going to call a podiatrist. I really don't want to wear orthopedic shoes, y'all, but I feel like it could happen. LOL. That was the point of this whole blathering post. I don't want to wear ugly shoes!
Oh, vanity.
