The Unintentional Shoplifter
Mar. 11th, 2005 05:35 pmYeah, er, whoops. I went to Target today to pick up some essentials. As Target never fails to do, it lured (suckered) me into browsing way more than I intended, and buying much of what I browsed. I'm addicted to several things - sunglasses, watches, pajamas and other intimates. Today, I splurged and found a great pair of sunglasses. I didn't want them to get squished, so I put them in the box carrying the shoes I intended to purchase.
And promptly forgot about them. The cashier didn't notice them, and it wasn't until I was about three blocks away from my home that I checked the receipt and noticed I didn't pay for the sunglasses.
Would it make me a completely terrible person if I never go back and correct the error? I swear I've never set out to steal a thing in my life. Well, except the cardboard display snowflakes in the Pamida store in Morris, Minnesota.
Oy.
