Why some people shouldn't procreate
Feb. 15th, 2005 07:02 pmCrazy (literally, I'm not being mean) jackass (okay, here I am being mean) in #530: Hey, tell me what room Billy is in.
Me: I'm sorry, but I can't give you someone's apartment number unless they tell me it's okay.
#530: What do you mean, why not?
Me: It's not something we do. People expect privacy and a little discretion.
#530: Fuck this. I can't believe this shit. You're just telling me this because you don't like me.
Me: (Honestly, can't stand ya, buddy) No, sir, the answer would be the same regardless of who asked.
#530: Can you call him and ask if it's okay?
Me: No, he's not connected to the hotel part of the phone system.
#530: So you can't call him?
Me: No.
#530: Are you sure you can't give me his room number?
Me: Really sure. Even if it wasn't against policy, I am not comfortable sending...
#530: WHAT? He likes me. And it's not like I'm asking for a girl's room or something.
Me: Please let me finish. I'm not comfortable sending someone to a tenant's door without their permission, and I doubt he would be happy to get an unexpected visit...even if he likes you.
#530: Really? Shit, I can't believe this.
Me: I'm sorry, it's just not going to happen.
#530: Can I talk to your boss?
Me: He's not around right now but you're more than welcome to wait.
#530: All right, I will.
(Fifteen minute interlude, where I try to sell an apartment and let paramedics in for someone having a "heart attack")
Bossman: Hey, what's up?
#530: If I wanted to go visit someone who lives here but I don't know where he lives, can you give me his room number.
Bossman: Absolutely not.
#530: Oh. Okay then.
ARGH.
