So, that happened

I got hit by another car in another crosswalk on Wednesday evening. Same deal - I am okay. This time, though, the guy was back in his car and GONE by the time I had collected myself enough to get off the street. He had plenty of time to tell me that I "came out of nowhere", though. Y'all, I was halfway through the crosswalk when he rolled up and through the stop sign. Ugh. Pain mostly in right shoulder and knee, though generalized body aches as well, of course.

I feel like ... once is bad. Twice seems like maybe I'm in one of those Final Destination movies and my time is about up. Is that fatalist? Perhaps, but I can't help but think it anyway. I'd rather not go out that way, so please send any spare health and safety vibes my way.

In other news, in November I got a card that I thought was just regular jury duty. NOPE. Grand jury summons. Sigh. I have orientation on Tuesday which will tell me whether or not holiday travel is in the cards for me this year.

I believe my exact words while on the ground were, "Are you fecking kidding me??" Haha. All I can really do is laugh at this point, though it is not at all funny. I've been very lucky, but I do not want another experience like this.

You can bet from now on I will be the person stock still on the sidewalk if there are ANY cars anywhere near a crosswalk. Clearly can't count on people actually looking for pedestrians.

I think, as recompense, that Bad Driver Guy should have to perform your jury duty for you.

On the other hand, he clearly has bad judgement… </ ETA>

Haha, yes, I think he'd be easily dismissed as a juror. I'm halfway hoping that it's some kind of traffic case, but I can't imagine one of those actually going to trial. My only other hope to get out of it is if I am familiar with the people, which is possible as my clientele tends to make ... interesting life choices. (My fav, the guy in jail for attempted murder calling me begging to turn his Social Security payments back on for him. Sir. Not how it works. Also not my job.)

Oh my gosh, maybe you should start wearing bright orange with reflectors ...and bubble wrap every time you go for a walk. Glad you're okay!

Walter has a reflective collar and a bright light. I have a flashlight, usually pointed at him. But, yeah, I need to get some tape to put on my sleeves or something. Not that it would matter if they don't look.

Ready for this poopy year to be over. Whether or not I head back for family visit.

I am now planting myself firmly on the sidewalk if there's a car within half a block of where I want to cross. If that annoys drivers who have to either make that full stop or encourages them to fly right through...and both have already happened...then so be it! This ol' broad can't take another hit.
