So, this weekend marks the very first ever organized gay pride celebration in my town. It's kind of a big deal, very cool. I went to the gala last night, which suffered from terrible acoustics (small town, limited venue and funding) but was very fun and a successful first run. My favorite was a drag queen named Annie DePressant's interpretation of Justin Bieber's "Sorry" - she came out wearing a blood spattered coverall, a machete and dragging a clear plastic bag filled with body parts. If you know the lyrics of the song, it was a pretty fascinating (if morbid) take on it. As the song progressed, she stripped down until she was wearing nothing (well, not nothing nothing, but a bodysuit that looked like nothing). Like I said, pretty morbid. Pretty awesome.

I wish I'd recorded it. It was much more impressive than it sounds. It was the only performance I moved seats so I could see (I had another DQ seated right in front of me with a very large wig - she performed later and lost a boob in the process, which was actually my second favorite part of the night. Boob just popping right into the air while she was going to town with Heart's "Alone"). She lost her wig, too. So committed.

Anyway, today I am groggy, my throat is sore and I apparently drank more champagne than I realized. I am trying valiantly to get off the sofa and get some stuff done.
