To hell with it, I said, I'm going to make a pie this year. It has been over a decade since I've had pumpkin pie, and that is just not okay.

Unfortunately, this pie is just not okay, either. I followed the recipe, but the center wouldn't set! So it's too brown on top, too liquidy in the middle and the crust is a bit tough because I ran out of refined white flour, had to use some whole wheat and therefore used too much water and kneaded too much.

However, PIE. And I can deal with tough crust, because for the first time in forever, it doesn't look like a toddler cobbled this together. LOL. It actually tastes delicious - just doesn't look great.

I don't know why I can't pie. I consider this a major deficit.

As an aside, that rolling pin in the first picture? I kind of want to take it to my neighbors. They are stealing my paper! I heard the thwap of the paper being delivered but was on the elliptical. By the time I was done, the paper was gone. Grrrr.
