I believe Ruby is working for YED or at least was. She's a demon and ultimately can not be trusted. Plus she's taking Sam down the path that YED wanted - at least I think she is.
Time travel rocks and I loved the Campbells and young John. Kripke is such a Bruce Campbell fan and has been trying to get him on the show - wonder if that's why he picked that surname.
